They are hiring an Underwriter - Workers Compensation to underwrite new and renewal business, including workers' compensation, commercial auto, and general liability. You’ll drive new commercial insurance solutions, such as guaranteed cost and large deductible accounts, while building strong relationships with brokers and agents across the region. You’ll also contribute to agency management strategies and lead relationship-building initiatives.
What You Bring:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required
- 7+ years of casualty underwriting experience with an insurance carrier
- In-depth knowledge of underwriting mechanics, casualty coverage, and loss-sensitive deal structures (retro, large deductible, self-insurance)
- Strong knowledge of local/regional market trends and underwriting territories
- Proven success in marketing, prospecting, and agency relationship management
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
- Proficient in marketing, analysis, problem-solving, and negotiations
- Ability to collaborate effectively with internal teams, including Claims and Risk Control
- Willingness to travel to maintain agent and broker relationships
- CPCU, ARM, or other relevant designations preferred
