A leading healthcare organization is seeking an experienced Hospital Clinical Documentation Improvement (CDI) Specialist to help strengthen documentation quality, coding accuracy, and reimbursement integrity. This fully remote opportunity is ideal for a CDI professional with a strong background in acute care inpatient coding who enjoys collaborating with providers and making a meaningful impact on clinical documentation.

You'll divide your time between hospital inpatient production coding and Clinical Documentation Improvement initiatives, making this an excellent opportunity to expand your expertise while working with a collaborative, quality-focused team.

What You'll Do
  • Perform hospital inpatient production coding with accuracy and compliance.
  • Review medical records and collaborate with providers to improve documentation quality and completeness.
  • Conduct Clinical Documentation Improvement (CDI) reviews to support accurate code assignment, DRG integrity, and quality outcomes.
  • Balance approximately 50% inpatient coding and 50% CDI project work.
  • Work independently in a fully remote environment while managing multiple priorities.

What You'll Bring
  • 4+ years of inpatient hospital production coding experience in a PPS acute care hospital setting.
  • CCS certification required; candidates with RHIT or AAPC CIC/COC credentials will also be considered.
  • CDI certification (CCDS or CDIP) preferred, or willingness to obtain a CDI credential within 12 months of hire.
  • Strong knowledge of ICD-10-CM/PCS, MS-DRGs, physician query practices, and clinical documentation improvement principles.
  • Experience collaborating with providers to improve documentation accuracy and completeness.
  • College degree preferred, but not required
What You'll Bring
  • At least four years of inpatient coding experience in a PPS (Prospective Payment System) acute care hospital setting.
  • CDI certification is preferred; candidates with at least two years of successful CDI experience will also be considered.
  • Strong understanding of hospital coding guidelines and documentation standards.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently in a remote setting.
  • College degree preferred, but not required.
