Excellence

Being a Partner here at Hobson is probably not what you think it is…

Sure, our experience and years of hard work have given us clients who call on us again and again; it has given us beautiful, shiny awards that sit on our desks; it has given us the esteem and respect of colleagues and industry peers.

But how did we get to become partners at one of the top search firms in the US?

By striving for EXCELLENCE, and choosing to BE excellent.. In fact, I am excellent at just about everything I do! (Ha! And if you believe that last statement, you’ll want to add that to my new proverbial “Crap App”--an inside joke here at Hobson…

Speaking of excellence….working as a recruiter in a job market that now has a 4.9% unemployment rate, means that qualified people have “excellent”career choices…Many will accept new roles with lots of money and some will burn bridges by accepting counteroffers-- but are they really “excellent”? And how are we recruiters “excelling” at what we do for you?

Doing the right thing
For the most part, (if you’re an average professional) you look at new opportunities at the 3 to 5 year career mark, some, especially in thetechnology sector, may do so even sooner. Job searching is not an activity you do often, but we (recruiters) do it multiple times a day! So we need to be at our best, we need to measure the process for you, as we need to be able sleep at night with the decisions we make, and help you make.

It’s about more than the money
Here at Hobson, managing talent and the process are the ultimate in “excellence” and is designed to help candidates make those “excellent” decisions. Certainly we can be biased-we want you to accept our job offer, but it’s not just about that. It’s more about you, and our clients.

Experience and Transparency
So, next time a recruiter calls you, be open and transparent in what you want to do next. Leverage your recruiter’s years of experience and/or skills. We realize that in most cases, candidates are going to take the job they want, regardless of money. Since everyone wants to work somewhere they fit comfortably, and can perform at a level that will afford them the opportunity to make a great living.

Many of us recruiters are niched- mine is Life Sciences, and maintaining the relationships I’ve built over the years is extremely important to me. Our processes are designed from 50 years of experience doing the right thing, so I guess you could say that is--you guessed it-- EXCELLENT!
