EntitledDon’t be THAT Salesperson. The one who made a name for him/herself by being a hunter, unafraid of cold calls and new accounts. The one who saw objections as a challenge. The one who saw the Entitled People as sad and weak and pathetic. The one who doesn’t kid him/herself about the quality of their pipeline.

The one who used to sleep well. 5 Ways your boss tells headhunters like me he has put you in the “Entitled Bucket”

  1. Your boss recommends more biz development and you tell anyone who will listen your boss is out of touch with new methodologies of selling
  2. It’s not that yours skills are eroding but that the leads you get funneled to you are weak.
  3. Vacation at your desk. You have a big pipeline so your quarter is covered. Might as well hop on ESPN or check your stocks. No one will know.
  4. The farming mentality sinks in, usually presented on the offensive. “Boss, I have earned the right to have major accounts.”
  5. You call it delegating, when you know you are dumping the harder work on your inside sales or support team.

You used to love sales because it was so Fair! There is no tenure track and you are only as good as your last sale. That used to excite you. Now it scares you. That’s Entitlement, and it can end Today! You’re still in there somewhere!
