ABOUT THE POSITION:
As Business Development Underwriter, your responsibilities will include managing an assigned underwriting territory to achieve profitable growth. This involves underwriting new business, handling renewals, endorsements, and other transactions. Your role will also entail identifying new business opportunities and effectively managing agency relationships.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE HAS:
- A Bachelor's degree and six (6) plus years of related insurance experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Proven success in Commercial Lines property casualty insurance businesses.
- Experience with General Liability & Property underwriting required. Excess & Surplus highly preferred. Middle Market Commercial underwriting with Construction also considered
- Previous experience collaborating with independent agents, with a preference for surplus lines underwriting experience.
- Basic knowledge of computer programs in a Windows environment, including proficiency in Word, Excel, and E-mail.
- Familiarity with online underwriting tools in a paperless environment, such as SAGE, Silver Plume, and Reference Connect, is preferred.
- Preferably, advanced professional insurance coursework (e.g., CPCU, ASLI, and AU) or completion of other insurance-related classes.
