Reflecting on 2015-The Three “Cs”

Culture, Collaboration and Communication. As much as I hate clichés or jargon, I’ve realized that they ARE keys to the success of a strong team- whether at work or personally. As you look back on the last twelve months, think about how you can use the three “Cs” to improve the next year of your life:

PERSONAL LIFE:
Culture
“You are the average of the five people you spend the most time with.” ― Jim Rohn

I have realized that who I let into my life and choose to deal with greatly affects the quality of my living. My advice? Cut the fat andchoose to spend time only with those who ADD to your life.

Collaboration
I’ve found that professionals with a strong support system tend to be less stressed and can navigate through challenges much more effectively. No one can do everything 100% of the time. I suggest you collaborate, divide and conquer!

Communication
Learn to understand what makes people tick–and respond accordingly. Accept the fact that many disagreements and conflicts are not personal – but a function of individuals’ brains that are wired differently, along with their life experiences.

AT WORK:
Culture
There is nothing better than working at an organization with a great culture. I’m grateful for an amazing team here at Hobson Associates. When I look back on the year, it’s easy to give thanks for the mentors who have played an important role in my personal development and building my skill set.

Collaboration
Embrace the uniqueness and the diversity of the people on your team. You can learn a lot, and the results can be prosperous-individually and as a team.

Communication
It’s not what you say, but how you say it.” Opening the lines of communication with your team will most likely promote tasks and projects to run more smoothly. You’ll be shocked how much more production you will get out of your team, and with a lot less drama.

So you see, it’s not just clichéd business jargon. Culture, Collaborationand Communication can be applied to many areas of our lives. During your year-end reflection, think about all the gifts you have contributed to your team and what you have received from them. But most importantlytake a moment to thank your team members for their strengths, and the journey you share throughout your growth and accomplishments within your organization.

Wishing you a Happy Thanksgiving, as we head into a new and prosperous year!
