“I Wish My Recruiter Knew…”: What I am Really Good at!
Welcome to the 4th post in our “I wish my recruiter knew” series…
We polled our clients, candidates and social media followers, asking them to answer a question that most search firms don’t dare ask-- what’s on their minds!
A candidate says:
“I wish my recruiter knew what I am really good at!”
A recruiter responds:
“In order for me to know what a job candidate is really good at, I need to be good at what I do. After 20+ years as an Executive Recruiter, I can honestly say I’ve become pretty skilled at all the processes we do. Here’s how, as it applies to candidates:
-
I will know your qualifications and what you are looking for in your career.
-
I will not try to sell you on a job I think is a bad fit for you. I need to sleep at night.
-
I will tell you why you do or do not fit. I don’t have the capacity to sugarcoat.
-
I will keep you informed if I get you in process. Limbo is worse than hearing no.
-
I will keep you in mind for those jobs that make sense. It benefits both of us.
It all comes down to communication and knowing the processes. 500+ professional and executive placements under my belt, I can say it seems to be working! “
