Vénard (Vern) Chanski, CPC

Senior Partner and Director of Business Operations, Life Sciences

Vern works within a unique niche of the healthcare industry: the global world of innovative and disruptive medical device technologies, which target the disciplines of wound care, infection prevention and diagnostics. His focus is recruiting the critically needed executives and industry professionals required to make his clients successful. Recently, three of his clients won Fast 50 awards, one for the sixth successive time; another, winning a spot in the INC 500. Since joining the firm in 1985, Vern has achieved well in excess of $6 million in terms of placed professional salaries. He is a consistent top producer who has led the firm in yearly fees four times during his tenure. In 1995, he became the Director of Business Operations for the firm, a role he holds today while also maintaining his own book of business. In 1999, he became a Partner; in 2001, a Senior Partner.

How does Vern apply his trade? By being a hybrid of a transplant surgeon and an old-fashioned matchmaker. This is to ensure an appropriate fit between the technical demands of the search requirements as well as the cultural fit between his clients teams and the identified, qualified candidates. Whether the search is for a C-Level Executive or a Product Manager, each deal is treated exactly the same way: keep the end game in sight through the entire process for both parties so both realize a “win” for their futures.

Prior to joining Hobson, Vern was an educator and counselor, then an entrepreneur and business owner in the alternative energy sector.

His academic credentials includes three graduate degrees, MDiv, MTh and MSOB, all of which center on organizational behavior and change. Vern maintains continuing professional enrichment to keep his game sharp and has been an instructor with Worcester Polytechnic Institute within the School of Continuing Education for Medical Device Professionals. Additionally, Vern has a strong history of active participation within various charitable, fraternal and professional organizations, both as an officer and/or a member of their boards of directors. Currently, he is active with the MIT Forum, The CT Technology Council, and Talcott Mountain Science Academy.

Fun Fact: An artist and adventurer who loves the thrill of the outdoors, Vern can be found digital camera in tow, exploring the back roads in his yellow Jeep Wrangler (top down, of course).
