See what people are saying about Vénard:
Vern Chanski and Hobson Associates changed my life. I met him when we had displays next to each other at a conference. As one often does at these events, we shared stories and conversation. He asked, “what would be the ideal opportunity for you?”. I gave him my thoughts and a resume and figured that this has happened before, but nothing is lost in the process. The ideal situation and position was a different approach. I was happy with what I was doing and how things were going at my present position, but he had asked the question and the answer was slightly different than what I was doing.
Vern and I stayed in touch and about two years later, he approached me with an opportunity. I was truly surprised at how well Vern had listened and understood, even better than I did, what the ideal situation entailed. His description of the opportunity and the criteria that I had in mind were an almost identical match. He was able to do this because he not only listened and understood what I wanted, but he also listened and completely understood what the company wanted and needed.
His approach is to make a perfect match. One major difference between his approach and others I have been involved with was that I was most interested in the values of the company, the personality of the people that I would work most closely with and the chance to make a major impact. The company was looking for these things as well. Vern ensured for the company that the requisite capabilities were in place as any recruiter does, but he went beyond this and focused on the character of the candidates he presented. His “Next Act” process was engaging and enabled me to express the management style and philosophies that were important to me and that I had employed over the years. I did not know what the company was looking for, but they knew more about me and could determine the fit against what they were seeking. I found the process provided a freedom to answer from the heart rather than focus on past positions and competencies, while these were part of the process, the focus was on fit for the company and for me.
During the two years that I have been with the company, I have been in the position of my dreams and the founder of the company is realizing his. I get to run a great company with great people and a stellar product that continues to grow fast enough to be recognized as a Connecticut Fast 50 Technology company for 7 consecutive years. The Founder gets to spend most of his time doing other things he enjoys with his wife and family- much of it at the Cape. Vern’s ability to listen and match has made this happen.
